Fitbit has launched a new kid-friendly smartwatch called the Fitbit Ace LTE. The device is designed for kids aged seven and up. It combines activity tracking with fun games to get kids moving.
The Ace LTE has LTE connectivity, GPS tracking, and safety features for parents. The games are fully immersive and interactive. They require kids to move around in various ways to play.
For example, your child might be a chicken in a bathtub racing through space, or they could be fishing for a Soy Sauce Snapper in Smokey Lake. Each gamer has a personal “eejie.” This customizable creature feeds off daily activity.
By completing activities and moving through games, kids earn arcade tickets. They can use these to customize their eejie’s look or decorate their place in Bit Valley. The smartwatch also offers six collectible Ace Bands.
Each band has built-in technology that unlocks different expansion packs called “hauls.” Your child just needs to connect the blue Courtside Ace Band to immerse the eejie in a world of basketball. Or they can plug in the green Spooky Pugs Ace Band to meet Wally, Bit Valley’s resident dog.
Fun fitness with the Ace LTE
For parents, the real draw is the Ace App. It allows them to see their child’s real-time location, send and receive messages, add approved contacts, and manage settings like School Time to eliminate distractions during class. The brand strategy for the Ace LTE revolves around the core idea “Because it’s fun.” It aims to fuel a mission to move a generation of gamers.
This ethos drives every brand decision, infusing enjoyment and play into each aspect. The visual elements are unified by a central motif: the “squircle.” This is derived from the square-ish-circular face of the device itself. The squircle morphs into a flexible, modular framework, allowing brand elements to adapt to various contexts.
A custom typeface called Eejietype Sans was developed for the branding. Inspired by the device’s forms, it promises energy and vibrancy while complementing the hardware. In terms of colors, the key brand colors are purple and green.
The surrounding system adopts highly saturated and animated gradients, buzzing with childlike verve. The art direction transports audiences into a captivating world through surreal landscapes and lively illustrations. Motion design is also a central focus.
Communications range in tone from “cruise mode” to “warp speed.” The motion behaviors convey a sense of youthfulness while allowing for a necessary tonal range. The Fitbit Ace LTE packaging aims to be a gateway to the product, bringing bands and collectibles to life through sustainable choices in materials. With its innovative features and vibrant branding, the Fitbit Ace LTE is poised to become a popular choice among kids and parents alike, making fitness fun and engaging for a new generation.
